Gripin, founded in 1999 in Istanbul, is a Pop-Rock band. Birol Namoğlu (vocal), Murat Başdoğan (guitar), Evren Gülçığ (bass guitar), İlker Baliç (drums) and Arda Inceoğlu (bass guitar, keyboards) are the members of the group but when Evren Gülçığ quit gripin in 2000, they continued their journey as 4 people.
They were performing in a bar called The Bronx until their first album was released. Gripin, recorded their first album after a lot of work in April 2004 and released ‘Hikâyeler Anlatıldı‘ under the direction of Haluk Kurosman.
Later in 2007, the album named “gripin” was released, which is also the name of the band. In addition to these, since 2000, the band has performed more than 550 concerts in 41 different cities, and has participated as an opening act in Turkish concerts of bands such as Cake, Skin, Placebo, Myslovitz and Evanescence.
On March 5, 2010, with their 3rd studio album “M.S. 05 03 2010” they suddenly became a hot topic in the music world. Gripin, with the song “Durma Yağmur Durma” appeared on the album named M.S. 05.03.2010, has achieved serious success in a list called “most listened to Turkish Radio and television” by staying in the top 25 for 31 weeks. One of the songs of this band named “Sen Gidiyorsun” released in November 2010, also peaked at number 1 on the same chart.

Their fourth studio album, ‘‘Yalnızlığın Çaresini Bulmuşlar” was released in 2012. Haluk Kurosman was the producer of the 11-song album with the main themes of solitude and separation. Gripin describes the song named ”Vazgeçtim Ben Bugün” which is notable for its lyrics on the album: “What is it that we can’t share? The world is a giant Time Bomb, and the clocks are us. We have to stop, think, calm down from now on. Because a better world is possible after all.”
The second video clip of the album was shot for the song named “Aşk Nereden Nereye” and the third video clip of the album was shot for the song named “Bir Cevabım var mı? ”
The group describes their last album as their ‘Milestone‘ and since then they have been achieving great successes in such categories as The Best Group (Pantene Altın Kelebek Awards), Best New Band (Hürriyet Altın Kelebek Awards) and more awards like these.
